Short Term Nanny
Travel Nanny: Passport & ready to go! Have a better trip!
When
I good friend of mine said I should be a 'travel nanny", I had no idea where
it would take me or if I could love someone else's child. But, it took no
time at all to fall in love with my first charge, a five month old boy. I
still get a warm rush when I recall his morning giggles and cooing as he
explored his tiny toes! Since then, I have had the pleasure of meeting
several children … have realized that a heart has more capacity for love
than I'd realized.
Unique as a "travel nanny, short term
nanny, temporary nanny", I am well educated with an accomplished career in
marketing and public relations. I have a wonderful husband and two terrific
grandsons! However, at this point in my life, it is refreshing to have the
opportunity to give my patience, skills / talents to such a worthy pursuit:
the nurturing of a young child's development and creation of happy memories.
Selected sections of reference letters:
1. As parents, one of the things you worry
about most with leaving your children in the care of others is their safety
and health. I have to say of all the things we can say about Linda, one of
the things that impressed us most is her care of our 3 yr. old when he
became very ill during one of their outings to a children’s museum.
2. As a high profile family, we have many
challenges for a nanny. Being with our family means attending dinners that
in a moment may turn into a business meeting, changing travel plans with
little or no notice, or moving from commercial to private air travel (or
vice versa), to name a few. The nanny needs to be able to respond quickly
and professionally to these situations and take the right steps to assist us
in caring for our 2˝ year old son while we simultaneously care for our
businesses. We have found that while most childcare professionals excel in
relation to children, many have a more difficult time with adult situations.
Linda is the exception!
3. Having never met Linda face to face was
a bit unnerving for me, but upon meeting her I was instantly put at ease and
knew I had made the right decision. She was refined, fit and youthful in
appearance, and she arrived right on time to our hotel and enthusiastically
began her job as nanny. Linda was a constant source of entertainment and
security for my son and piece of mind for me during the hours I was in
(corporate) training. She put her whole heart into caring for my son and not
once did I feel like I had to worry about his well-being. She was respectful
of my wishes and helped me through my first-time-mom jitters. She was
patient and loving toward my son as if he were her own. She engaged him in
playful and thoughtful activities. She sang and read to him. She took him on
strolls on the waterfront. She handled his occasional fussiness with grace
and calmness. Her energetic and enthusiastic approach kept my son smiling
and laughing...everyday I left for class confident my son was well-cared
for, and everyday I came home to a happy, smiling baby.
4. I want to thank you again for saving my
son, Jack's life. I've never been so terrified before and I don't think he
has either. When the air came out of the jumper and collapsed down on my 3
1/2 year old son all I could hear was screaming and crying from Jack
"somewhere" … I finally saw his little feet sticking out from where he was
trapped in the middle of it unable to escape. As I was trying to console him
as well as screaming for someone to get him out, I remember hearing you say
to him "honey, get on my back and hold on around my neck and I'll get you
out". Within a few seconds, you came crawling out of this massive thing with
my son on your back. Linda, to this day, I can't thank you enough for saving
my son.
As a "short term nanny", my goal is to find
a few families who travel a lot…either to their other properties /or on
business / vacation travel. For these families, I provide a discrete,
trustworthy, familiar/secure presence.
