The Traveling Nanny
Traveling
Nanny: Imagine this: You are looking for a family vacation combined with
relaxing couple time. A travel nanny can make both possible. Dreaming of a
couple vacation? I will come to you house and take care of all your
childcare needs and give you the peace of mind you have hired a true
professional.
Temporary Nanny: Is it time for your
nanny's vacation but you still have to work? Or you just need a nanny for a
short period of time? A temporary nanny can give you peace of mind. It is my
job to mold myself to your family's style and give you peace of mind.
Infant Care Specialist: I specialize
in single births for parents who are looking for someone to work beside them
as they learn how to manage feeding and sleeping schedules. Whether you
choose 12 hour or 24 hour coverage, I will work beside you making sure this
is a time of wonderful memories. My goal is to nurture the parents as well
as the baby.
Yes, I really do all of the above! My
passion is traveling and I have been fortunate to travel with parents as far
away as the French Polynesian Islands, Shanghai, China, Italy, France, and
pretty much all over the Caribbean's. I also take pleasure in going to my
parents house and keeping it all together as they take a much needed couple
vacation.
I have worked with one child families and large families with 5 or more
children. Traveling can be a stressful time and a travel nanny can't take
away all of it but she can lessen the load with a nanny bag full of things
to do. My parents kid me that I always see the glass half full even as we
are racing across the airport to make a close connection. If I have never
traveled with the family before I often come two days ahead to get
acquainted, pack the children's' luggage (including a packing list). By the
time we leave the children are content with me in coach and the parents in
first class or separated by many aisles.
Many of my families first hired me as their
temporary nanny. Sometimes they were looking for their first nanny and
needed someone to hold them over. I often ended up consulting with them
after I did the job for a week or two and helped them define the job for the
new nanny. Some of my moms stay at home and just need a nanny for a few
weeks a year. I understand the demands of being a parent and I try hard to
compliment your style and mold myself into your family dynamics.
Many of my current clients started out with
one child and I've returned to travel with them, do temporary from time to
time. Many eventually had another child. They asked if I would come and be
their infant care nanny. I adore babies (who doesn't?!) and I added this
category. To be honest, I try to limit myself to two baby jobs a year. I
look for parents that need just a little bit more than an infant care nanny.
Often they have a toddler that might need a little extra attention with the
new baby taking up so much of everyone time. Or as both parents adjust to a
new child, they might like some private time with the baby when dad comes
home. I will offer to cook dinner a few nights a week to allow them time
together. I am very good at what I do but I feel there are those nanny who
totally specialize in newborns. Rather than compete, I look for parents
whose needs are a little different as I have a heart for new moms and know
sometimes what you need falls between the cracks. Just think of me as the
filler of those cracks.
I've tried to keep up with what is
happening new in the infant care/toddler/older children fields by attending
workshops at nanny conferences such as International Nanny Assn and National
Association for Nanny Care. In 2008 I was awarded the Nanny of the Year by
the International Nanny Assn. One of my travel clients nominated me and it
truly touched me that they would take the time to do this for me.
I hope that you will take a few moments to
look at my website,
www.thetravelingnanny.com if you are interested in my services. I should
warn you - it is a website filled with everything you ever wanted to know
about me--and then some!
